Consider me your modern-day Ethel Mertz from “I Love Lucy.” I want to be your friend, your confidante, and a guide to all your cannabis-related questions.

Dear Ethel,

I struggle with appetite issues and have turned to cannabis for help, which strains should I be trying- or avoiding?

Best,

Humbly Hungry

Dear Humbly Hungry,

I am going to assume that you are hoping for an improved appetite, as I am not sure I can fully identify if your struggle is to stimulate your appetite or suppress it.

Look into the terpene profiles of each of the cultivars that can help stimulate appetite. Terpenes that stimulate appetite include myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene, and linalool. These terpenes may activate receptors in the brain that regulate hunger and mood.

Conversely, if the goal is to suppress your appetite, humulene is the terpene for you! This terpene is unique because, like THCV, it acts as an appetite suppressant. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and an anti-pain compound.

Most cultivators list their top three terpenes in each cultivar (either by listing or a QR code). If it isn’t, however, dispensaries have access to this information, and all Certificates of Analysis are public in nature and accessible to patients.

Hope this helps!

Love,

Ethel

Dear Ethel,

I have been a medical marijuana patient for almost a year now and will need to renew my MMJ card here soon. Can the same doctor that wrote my application letter renew my card?

Best,

Second-Timer

Heyyyyy Second-Timer!

Absolutely, the same physician that wrote your original certification can process your renewal for your recertification! Many physicians can do a tele-medicine visit with you if you saw the same physician the previous year! If you visit my website, www.askethel.com, you can find a list of physicians qualified and educated on cannabis use and can call ahead of time to schedule your appointment.

Looking forward to you being a third-timer!

Love,

Ethel
